Dear Pope Francis High School Students, Faculty and Staff, and Parents,
It is my great pleasure and honor to inform you of the unanimous recommendation of the Head of School Search Committee, and the subsequent approval by the Pope Francis High School Board of Directors, as well as the ultimate affirmation by Bishop Mitchell T. Rozanski to offer Dr. W. Paul Harrington, Jr. the position of Head of School. I am pleased to further announce that he has enthusiastically accepted the position.
As you know, we conducted an exhaustive nationwide search for our next Head of School. Working in conjunction with our independent search counsel, Boston-based Partners in Mission School Leadership Search Solutions-a national retained search and recruiting firm devoted exclusively to developing excellence in Catholic school executive leadership, the Search Committee vetted, interviewed, and evaluated an extensive pool of credible candidates excited to lead our school community into its promising future. The Search Committee included representatives of our clergy, faculty, parent, board, legacy alumni, and community constituencies.
Through this process, we narrowed this talented field to what the Search Committee felt were two exceptional candidates to consider as our next Head of School. Shortly after the finalists visited our campus, the Search Committee reconvened to carefully discern the future executive leadership of our school community. Once the committee identified the ideal candidate best-prepared to lead the academic, spiritual and institutional advancement needs of Pope Francis High School, Dr. Harrington’s candidacy was then presented to the Board for its approval. With these strong and congruent recommendations, Bishop Rozanski embracingly affirmed Dr. Harrington’s selection with his confirming approval.
“I am very pleased and excited that Dr. Harrington has accepted the position as the new Head of School for Pope Francis High School,” said Bishop Rozanski. “Having personally met with him, I believe he has the vision that will help us realize the full potential for this new school, both academically and spiritually.”
On behalf of the Board of Directors of Pope Francis High School, I thank you for your enduring commitment to Pope Francis High School and your invaluable support throughout the past two years. The merger of our two legacy schools has certainly presented challenges. The time has come for all of us to come together in Christian charity and humbly commit ourselves 100% to our exciting future. Building trust and encouraging interdependence will prayerfully assure our survival and growth. I know that Dr. Harrington is personally committed to working with all of us in nurturing the souls of the young men and women who are entrusted to our care.
We will be working with Jen Lopez, our Director of Communications and Marketing, in developing additional school community and media releases as we prepare for the Harringtons’ highly anticipated arrival in Springfield and the expected process to transition the executive leadership of our school into his proven and capable hands.
With gratitude and best wishes for a peaceful Lenten and Easter season –
Michele D’Amour, M.Ed.
President, Board of Directors
