The administration of Pope Francis High School believes that athletics are an extension of the classroom, affording student-athletes opportunities for growth, learning, leadership and excellence. Pope Francis offers a variety of sports in the fall, winter and spring seasons. We encourage students of all abilities to get involved in our athletic programs. All athletes MUST have a valid physical on file with the school nurse in order to practice or tryout. Physicals are valid for a total of 13 months. All freshmen, juniors and transfer students also need to take the online Vital Signs Concussion Test (instructions for the test, and other paperwork required for athletic participation, can be found under the “Athletic Policies and Required Forms” tab)

FALL SPORTS INFORMATION
All fall sports (golf, cross country and soccer) will begin on Thursday August 23rd. Details on the first days of practice/tryouts will be posted below as soon as they are available.
Boys Soccer tryouts will take place on Thursday 8/23 from 9 am until 11 am and again from 5 pm until 7 pm on the athletic fields on campus. Players are expected to attend both sessions.

Boys and Girls Cross Country
Here are the details for the first few days of practice for the boys and girls cross country teams:
Thursday 8/23: 6-7:30 pm at Whiting Reservoir in Holyoke. Whiting Reservoir is located on Mountain Park Access Road, off Route 5 in Holyoke. From the South, take 91 North to exit 17A. Take a left at the light (on to Northampton Street/Route 5), go straight through the next light, and continue straight for approximately 1.5 miles. Take a left at the light (on to Mt Park Access Road), and proceed straight up the hill. We will meet in the parking lot across the bridge.
Friday 8/24: 6-7:30 pm at Ashley Reservoir in Holyoke. We will meet by the Holyoke Lodge of Elks (located at 250 Whitney Avenue) in the parking lot near the entrance to the reservoir.
Saturday 8/25: 9 – 10:30 am at Whiting Reservoir in Holyoke.
