Miss Marita Mariani


Marita Mariani is a lifelong resident of Springfield and a graduate of Cathedral High School. She obtained her B.A. in Biology from the Elms College and a Master’s degree of Natural Science from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). She began teaching at Cathedral High School in 1975 and has served as long-term chair of the Science Department. She will be serving as the first Chair of the Science Department at Pope Francis. She holds a current certification in Biology and Chemistry by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  She has also been certified by the International Baccalaureate (IB) program to teach Biology. At Pope Francis, she will teach Advanced Placement (AP) Biology and Chemistry, Honors Chemistry, and Anatomy and Physiology.
