Dr. Paul Harrington
Dr. Paul Harrington is a Catholic school leader with experiences across the K-16 spectrum. His collaborative leadership approach results in: high student achievement, student acceptances to top-tier colleges and universities, graduates with strong values and a moral compass, campuses with advanced technologies and upgraded facilities, and cultivation of philanthropic constituents and families who believe in and support the school’s mission.
A native of Holliston, Massachusetts, Paul holds a B.S. in Biology with a minor in Economics from Fairfield University. Following a mission trip to serve the poor community of Duran, Ecuador and his graduation from Fairfield, Paul served as a volunteer teacher and vice principal at Nativity School in South Los Angeles. This life changing experience, sponsored by the Sisters of the Holy Child Jesus and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, allowed Paul to share his Catholic faith and become immersed in this culturally diverse, faith-filled, and economically challenged community. Those years served as the foundation for his dedication to Catholic school leadership.
While serving as a volunteer teacher at Nativity School, Paul had the opportunity to continue his Jesuit education, earning an M.A. in School Administration from Loyola Marymount University. A lifelong learner at heart, Paul enrolled in the Ed.D. (in Educational Leadership) program at the University of Southern California while working fulltime as a math teacher and Director of Admission and Financial Aid.
Most recently, Paul has served the Bishop Garcia Diego High School community as the Head of School (6 years) and Vice Principal and Dean of Studies (2 years). Paul’s increasing responsibilities and experiences in Catholic education have equipped him with deep knowledge in the following areas: spiritual leadership and Catholic faith formation, school governance, institutional advancement, endowment, capital campaigns, external affairs, public relations, financial management, all-school budget development, recruitment, retention, enrollment management, financial aid, faculty and staff supervision/evaluation, benefactor, foundation, and alumni relations, physical plant and facility management, strategic planning and implementation, accreditation, teaching, curriculum development and assessment, counseling and student services, faculty professional development, and instructional technology.
It is common to find Paul, his wife Wendy, and their four-year-old daughter Grace attending school events as a family. In his free time, Paul enjoys biking, playing racquetball, golfing, gardening, cheering for the Red Sox and the USC Trojans, singing duets with Grace to the Frozen and Trolls soundtracks, traveling, and visiting family.
